About Allie

I grew up in rural Devon but ran away to the bright lights of York where I spent four happy years as a student, learning essential skills such as rolling a Hula Hoop across the floor of the college bar with my nose and reading Chaucer out-loud in the style of Sean Connery.

After obtaining my MA, I went to law school and qualified as a barrister specializing in all aspects of matrimonial and family law—everything from financial settlements to international child abduction—and spent several years practising law before becoming a full-time writer.

I'm also a bit of an amateur luvvie and for many years was part of The Lords of Misrule, a drama group specialising in early theatre performed in its original language.

As well as writing, I also do readings and talks for libraries, reading groups and writing groups on all aspects of novel writing—please contact me by e-mail for further details: allie@alliespencer.com
