Allie's C.V.

Allie graduated from the University of York with a 2:1 BA (Hons) in English and Related Literature and an MA in Medieval Studies, where her dissertation topic was the legal response to domestic violence in the later Middle Ages. She passed the CPE law conversion course at the University of Sussex and then read for the Bar at the Inns of Court School of Law in London. She completed pupillage in London with a leading set specialising in family law before working as a matrimonial specialist for various firms of solicitors on cases ranging from financial settlements to domestic violence.

Allie is a former winner of the Richard III Bursary for her MA research (a condensed form of which was subsequently published in The Richardian journal); and as a student barrister was awarded a Jules Thorn Scholarship and a Queen Mother's Scholarship by her Inn of Court, Middle Temple.

Allie's writing career began by writing 'spec' scripts for the US sit-com market with a partner—some of which were either shortlisted or runners up in various competitions. She then worked on scripts for historical audio tours for clients who included the National Trust. Tug of Love is her first published novel and won the Joan Hessayon Award administered by The Romantic Novelists' Association. She has just completed her next book for her publishers Little Black Dress.

Allie is a self-confessed luvvie and has an ongoing interest in drama and all things theatrical. She has played parts ranging from Anglo Saxon broad-sword wielding villains in Beowulf to Titania in A Midsummer Night's Dream and directed a sell-out production of Twelfth Night performed in Tudor English. She is a book-worm and a telly addict and goes for anything that will make her laugh. Allie is married and has two children and lives in Salisbury, Wiltshire.
